Our new favorite Mexican restaurant in Miami. The food is delicious, and the service is 5-star; Josue, our phenomenal server, took care of us as if we were part of his own family. The mezcal cocktails are great and the wine selection has a little something for everyone. We will definitely be coming back very soon to try a bunch of the other menu items that we couldn't get to this time around. Thanks again for your hospitality, Josue. We wish you much success. I did not know that this restaurant had had a new refurb. Therefore, I was surprised to see the new decor style. I actually really liked the old style, and I The old style was more traditional Mexican and you felt transported there. I really liked the blue and white old pots. The new style is more clean cut and modern but it did not represent Mexico in any way. The decor inside seems to be the new generic Miami style now given to refurbs. My husband and I had a pleasant evening. The ambiance was pleasant, the service was efficient. The food was also authentic. I would recommend. They even have flying pigs inside - go check them out. I noticed they also have insects on their menu. I did not try these dishes, but will next time.

We booked this place for pre NYE dinner as a party of 5. The seating inside is definitely the way to go because outside has no vibe. All dishes were delicious but octopus and short rib tacos stood out especially. Recommended if you're looking for fancy Mexican food.

I am updating my review because I popped in on Friday and got to try some of their new menu items. Their happy hour, which features discounted margs and cocktails is great. I love their drinks. Their Pepino Maracuya margarita is one of my favorite cocktails in Miami. It hits every time with the perfect blend of cucumber, passionfruit and your choice of mezcal or tequila. I also like that you can make it spicy, which I recommend. In terms of food - the menu is filled with traditional mexican fare. I usually gravitate towards "a la leña" section which is their food on the grill, but last week I noticed they have skinny tacos. This is a section of the menu where the tacos are served on lettuce versus tortillas. They also do not come with a side of rice and beans like their traditional tacos do. I opted for the hamachi skinny tacos. These had rice, hamachi in a soy type of marinade, and were delicious. Before we left, they sent us off with complimentary shots of mezcal which was a nice touch. Now that Miami is experiencing glorious weather, this is a great spot to enjoy a drink and dinner al fresco.

Talavera is even better with its recent "facelift"/remodel. It's a coral gables staple and have been serving authentic Mexican food for years. We had several items and shared them family style. Tacos were perfect. Quesadillas were cheesy and yummy (may be too greasy for my taste). Ceviche verde was fantastic, as was guacamole. I had to take one star off only bc I felt rushed by the waiter. They kept trying to remove unfinished food from the table - we were just enjoying our conversation and were not rushing to get out. Also they brought tiny-tiny bowl of chips for a party of 3 adults. I look forward to going back.
